March 2013 MyGlam Ipsy Bag - Photos and First Impressions

Ipsy Glam Bag - March 2013

Today is a fantastic day. One of my three hour classes got out early AND I received my Ipsy bag in the mail!

This month's official glam bag has the theme of "The Great Escape" and is described as follows:

It's time to get away from the drab cold of winter and pack your things for a nice little break with your March Glam Bag. We've chosen awesome beauty and skincare products that will make your trip towards the sunshine, sea, snow, and more a much more memorable affair.

I was so excited when I opened the bag and saw the nautical themed bag! Ever since last year, I have been such a fan of nautical...anything! So guess who will be using this bag during the spring and summer?

On the the contents!

#1. La Fresh Travel Lite Makeup Remover Wipes
La Fresh® Travel Lite® portable towlette wipes are perfect for jetsetters, go-getters, outdoor enthusiasts and multi-taskers everywhere. Towlette packets are small in size, designed for practicality and are easy to apply discreetly. Each item is carry-on friendly and slim enough to slip into a pocket, purse or wallet. Perfectly portable, La Fresh® makes beauty a breeze when you’re on-the-go.
I am not too big a fan of this. After my skin has just recovered from a bad makeup wipe (I'll be talking about it soon, don't worry!), I am a little hesitant to try out another wipe. Especially since I'm not liking the chemical smell.

#2. Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist
Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist tones, hydrates, and refreshes your face and hair while on the go, anytime of the day. Hydrate with the refreshing blends of organic juices for a fresh, radiant complexion.

I absolutely had no idea how to use this product. So I went ahead and tried to use this product as described. Let me just say that the spray comes out pretty concentrated in one area. And smells very strongly of herbs, in an overwhelming sort of way.

Also, my eye area started to feel warm and stung a little after a couple seconds. I am not sure what that means. :(

#3. GlamRX Mini Freestyle Palette
The GlamRX Mini Freestyle Palette was made exclusively for ipsy Glam Bag subscribers. The magnetic base is the perfect spot to store pan-only eyeshadows (2 of which are included in this Glam Bag!), blushes & bronzers, or whatever you need for perfect for quick touch ups on the go! Whether you are headed off to spring break or just need a cute & clever way to store products in your bag, you can create the perfect makeup look and take it with you with your exclusive GlamRX Mini Freestyle Palette.

I preemptively disappointed myself with this product. When the brand is called GlamRX, my inner pharmacy nerd immediately thought of a first aid kit or a concealer/blush combo palette of some sort. But when I opened the box, and it was empty. Heart. Sank.

But I got excited again when I realized that it was a mini palette! Hello easier way to travel with depotted products!!

#4. Yaby Refill Shadows in Sand Dune and So Vein
Whether you want to make a dramatic statement or just add a veil of color to your eyes, the yaby eyeshadow refills are extremely easy to work with. Can be used wet or dry and the smooth texture allows blending with ease.
I'm fairly excited about these shadows. After hearing so much about Yaby products from other gurus over the years. I am absolutely loving So Vein...but I need to work on Sand Dune. So far it just either makes me look sick or blends into my skin tone. Hmm..

And that's it!

Slightly disappointed with the products this month, but I do like the bag and the GlamRX! But...I'm a little biased ;)

  4. I totally know what you mean when it comes to chemical smell in products - I hate that! Especially when so many brands these days have figured out how to make their products smell nice and fresh. Maybe try the wipes on a small patch of skin and see if you have a reaction?

Take your time :) Don't feel pressured and/or obligated. There are good and "bad" months. I just hope you'll like it if you get it! :)
