Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray (Influenster Sweetheart VB 2013) - Review and Photos

Not Your Mother's
Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray

Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray ($12.00 USD / 8 oz) is a texturizing spray promising beachy waves.

Packaging: [3.2/4.0]

Packaging is the generic plastic spray bottle. The screw on portion may not be as tight, as you can see from pictures, the products leaked a bit.

Formulation: [3.5/4.0]

The spray mostly smells like coconuts and pina coladas, but I still detected a hint of plastic scent underneath. I like that the second ingredient is sea salt. Because there are products out there where the one ingredient they make a selling point for is at the bottom of the list. (Did you know that ingredients are listed in the order of quantity used?)

Application: [2.3/4.0]

Applying the product is very self-explanatory. You spray onto dry/damp/clean hair at you preference, and then scrunch away, or you can blow dry. I chose to scrunch and air dry.

The product does dry fairly quickly, so you do need to work quickly.

This product's downside is that you need a LOT of product to get the beach wave result. From the pictures down below, I actually tied most of my hair back so you can't see, and I only tested out a section of it. When the directions say "mist generously," they really DO mean generously!

Also, I have noticed that even though the product washes out, it left my hair feeling a little...thirsty.

Longevity: [3.0/4.0]

My waves died down after 45 minutes. My friend's beachy waves did last a bit more than half of the day (if you apply enough product that is). If you have longer or heavier hair, your hair will tousle out after awhile, giving a better "beachy" appearance.

My hair is notoriously stubborn; curls last a maximum of 1 hour before becoming semi-waves.

Final Grade! B

Bottom Line: A texturizing spray that does it's job! It does give the beach babe waves for the majority of the day. But beware, if you have thick and/or long hair, be prepared to use a lot of product.

Price: $12 USD / 8 oz

Where to buy: Walgreens, Amazon, and wherever NYM products are sold

  1. I use this before blow drying and get far better results! I like to use it daily for texturizing before curling with an iron, too. I agree that you must add a GENEROUS amount!

  3. you have beautiful long hair! My hair has a hard time holding its curl too and I have to use a lot of heat and product in order for it to stay curly but I hate that heavy feeling.

  4. you have beautiful hair, lady! I have this texturizer, too and love the smell. I agree that it's not a miracle product because the results aren't that dramatic. Their dry shampoo is my absolutely favorite, though! I'm on my 3rd can and I almost never buy the same thing twice! Happy weekend!
